1. Scholarship Period

•  - Master’s Degree: 3 years (1 year of Korean language program + 2 years of degree program)

•  - Doctoral Degree: 4 years (1 year of Korean language program + 3 years of degree program)

2. Eligibility

•  - Nationality: Applicant must hold U.S. citizenship. 

•                     Parents must hold U.S. citizenship or a foreign citizenship (non-Korean).

•  - Age: Must be born after September 1, 1986.

•  - Grades: Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.64/4.0, 2.91/4.5, or equivalent (refer to the full GPA conversion table).

•

4. Application Period

•  - February 12, 2026 (Thu) 11:00 AM – February 25, 2026 (Wed) 6:00 PM (KST)

•    Strict adherence to the deadline is required.

•   ※ Central Standard Time (CST) Reference: February 11, 2026 (Wed) 8:00 PM – February 25, 2026 (Wed) 3:00 AM. (KST is 15 hours ahead of CST).

5. Submission Method

•  - Online Application only via the Study in Korea portal: <www.studyinkorea.go.kr>

•   ※ Applicants must register, fill out the application directly on the system, and upload scanned copies of all supporting documents.

•  - Hard copies (postal mail) are NOT required at this stage.

•  

6. Required Documents (Refer to [Attachment])

•  - [Written Forms]: Applicants must directly input information for the Letter of Intent, Application Form, Personal Statement, Study Plan, and Personal Medical Assessment.

•  - [Recommendation Letter]: Must be written and signed by the recommender. 

•                                        The applicant must scan the original signed letter and upload it to the system.

•  - [Certificates]: Upload scanned copies of graduation (or expected graduation) certificates, academic transcripts, and proof of citizenship.

•  - [Apostille Requirement]: 

   A) Despite general guidelines, you may upload certificates without an Apostille for the initial application. 

       Only those who pass the regional screening and are selected for an interview with the Korean Embassy in the U.S. will be required to submit original Apostilled documents.

•    B) Details regarding the types of original documents for NIIED and the submission schedule will be announced separately to successful candidates.

   ※ Note: Applicants whose final school attended is located in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, or Louisiana must apply through this office (Korean Education Center in Houston).
